Pima Community College campus police are looking for a man who robbed and assaulted a woman in a bathroom Friday evening.

The student was leaving a stall in a women’s restroom in the main building on the downtown campus when a man with a gun came out of an adjoining stall and ordered her back into her stall.

He “demanded she turn over some personal property and then attempted to sexually assault her,” said Commander Manny Amado, spokesman for the Pima Community College Police Department.

“We feel she did the right thing. She didn’t aggravate him. She complied with his demands. He did have a weapon and she did come out of the restroom alive,” Amado said.

The robber was described as a man in his 20s, with short dreadlocks, and a medium build, who stood between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11 inches tall. He wore black jeans, a black-and-grey plaid shirt and black shoes.

“Unfortunately that is the current world we live in. You really do have to be vigilant whether you’re walking into the restroom or walking to your car. Always be aware of your surroundings,” Amado said.
