A man who showed up to meet someone he thought would be an underage girl he had been chatting with online was instead arrested on felony luring charges.
Thomas Michael Sherlock, 57, was arrested Thursday by police and U.S. marshals on suspicion of one count each of aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual conduct.
The investigation of Sherlock started July 31, when police took note of an advertisement "looking for younger female companionship," Sgt. Maria Hawke said in a news release.
A detective began online communication with Sherlock, who thought he was chatting with an underage girl, police said. He also sent her explicit photos of himself.
Sherlock was arrested Thursday when he showed up for their real-life meeting.
