Denise Pesqueira, who killed her newborn son in 2009 was sentenced Monday to four years probation and 200 days work-release in Pima County jail.

Pesqueira, 23, who was tried two times previously for the first-degree murder in the child’s death, pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and child abuse.

Shortly after giving birth in 2009, Pesqueira cleaned the child, wrapped him in a trash bag and left him in the trash.

The infant’s remains were never found.

Both previous trials resulted in mistrials, however, Pesqueira was found guilty of reckless child abuse in the second trial.
