A Pueblo Magnet High School student was arrested on campus Tuesday in connection with the shooting death Sunday of another teen. The victim was shot after pleading for his life, a sheriff's spokesman said.

Sammy Anthony Terrazas, 17, was taken into custody at 12:30 p.m. at Pueblo by homicide detectives of the Pima County Sheriff's Department after he tried to run away, said Deputy Tom Peine, a department spokesman. Pueblo is at 3500 S. 12th Ave.

Terrazas was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder in the slaying of Jesus Duarte, 19, Peine said.

Duarte was fatally shot in the 6400 block of South Camino de la Tierra, north of West Valencia Road, shortly before midnight Sunday, Peine said.

Detectives found out that Duarte was involved with Terrazas' girlfriend, Peine said. Terrazas lured Duarte outside of his home, and then shot him multiple times after Duarte pleaded for his life, Peine said.
