A dance teacher at Sahuaro High School was arrested last week on suspicion of sexual conduct with a minor.
A school administrator from another school contacted the Tucson Police Department after learning of a relationship between Charlie Luna, 28, and a then 14-year-old girl, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a TPD spokeswoman.
Luna and the girl knew each other through a dance studio where she takes classes, Hawke said.
Luna, 28, was booked into Pima County jail on Nov. 27.
Luna was an independent contractor working as an instructor at the school, according to the Tucson Unified School District.
The student is not a TUSD student, according to a district statement.
“The arrest of Charlie Luna was made in conjunction with an investigation conducted by the Tucson Police Department and occurred off campus,” according to the statement.
Police are investigating whether Luna engaged in inappropriate relationships with other underage girls.
An internet search showed Luna taught hip hop and breakdancing with local dance groups.
