One person was shot in a road rage incident in Oro Valley Thursday night, police said.

A man was detained by Oro Valley police officers and was being questioned, said Lt. Kara Riley, an Oro Valley Police Department spokeswoman.

The shooting closed northbound Oracle Road between East Pusch View Lane and East First Avenue, said Riley.

The road will remain closed until early Friday morning.

A male, age unknown, was treated by Golder Ranch Fire District paramedics and taken to a hospital. The victim's condition was not immediately known, said Riley.

Shortly before 8 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of shots fired at North Oracle Road and East First Avenue, said Riley.

When officers arrive, they found a male who suffered from a gunshot, she said.

A preliminary investigation showed that an argument occurred between people in two vehicles because of a road rage incident,  Riley said.

There were two people in each of the vehicles involved, said Riley.

Witnesses described the vehicle the shooter was traveling in, and police located the vehicle in the area, and detained a man, Riley said.

No further information was immediately available.
