A Sierra Vista man has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

John Robert Stevens, III, 46, of Sierra Vista, was sentenced June 17 to 64 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins. In addition to the prison term, Stevens will be subject to lifetime supervised release. Stevens pleaded guilty Jan. 30 to knowingly accessing child pornography with intent to view.

According to court documents, Stevens downloaded child pornography in 2011 from the Internet to his personal computer.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Sierra Vista Police Department.

This arrest was part of Operation Predator, a nationwide Homeland Security Investigations’ initiative to protect children from sexual predators.
