A Mountain Vista Fire District crew mops up at the scene of a fire that destroyed a home in the 10000 block of North Gila Road on the far northwest side Saturday morning. Housesitters and four dogs escaped, but one dog was taken to a veterinarian with burns. The homeowners were away on vacation, said neighbor Meghan Detty, but were informed of the fire. Fire officials were still investigating Saturday, but the flames appear to have originated from a carport or garage behind the home.
