A reporter for the Arizona Daily Star is facing a misdemeanor trespassing charge in connection with an arrest earlier this month, Tucson police said Thursday.

Levi J. Long, 28, was arrested early in the morning of Nov. 20 when a man who lives at a house on East Edison Street said he awoke about 3 a.m. to find Long in his bedroom, a Tucson Police Department report says.

The man, who was not identified in the police report, said the intruder punched him before he was able to force the intruder out of the room. The man then locked his bedroom door and called police, the report says.

Several officers arrived at the home. Long was bitten by a police dog that was released into the house after Long ignored several commands from police to come outside. The report says Long is suspected of committing a lewd act inside the bedroom.

He was charged with criminal trespass, first degree.

"I'm sorry about the situation, and for disappointing the people whom I care about," Long said Thursday night. "It's a mistake that I'm learning from."
