Stolen Asarco plates were headed for China, DPS says

Copper plates stolen from the Asarco mine in Hayden were on display Tuesday during an Arizona Department of Public Safety news conference. Copper recovered near Tucson was valued at more than $300,000. Another $1.25 million worth was seized in Los Angeles. "Our detectives just followed the money, which took them from Southern Arizona all the way to China," said the DPS director.
