A vehicle with a fake government license plate was found loaded with 86 bundles of marijuana by Border Patrol agents in Nogales.

Agents found a white Chevrolet Tahoe in the Nogales area Saturday and attempted to make contact with the driver, but the vehicle sped off, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release.

A short time later, the driver abandoned the vehicle near the border and ran into Mexico, states the release.

Agents found that the vehicle was not owned by the government, and that the plate was fictitious.

The marijuana bundles in the vehicle were worth $827,000, states the release. The vehicle and marijuana were seized.

In another incident last Friday, an agency dog alerted agents to a person hiding in a trunk of a vehicle at the Interstate 19 checkpoint, authorities said.

The dog alerted agents to a Ford Mustang driven by a U.S. citizen.

The vehicle was seized and the driver and person found in the trunk were arrested.
