The cleaning crew at an east-side K-Mart received an unpleasant surprise at 4 a.m. Monday.

The crew was in the middle of vacuuming when they suddenly realized three men were smashing the jewelry displays and grabbing the baubles, according to a Tucson Police news release.

The crew, who was at a distance, thought they saw the burglars motioning for them to get on the ground and they did so.

The thieves left the store at East Broadway at North Kolb Road with an unknown amount of jewelry.

It's believed the group, who smashed through the front doors to gain entrance, were all men.
