A Tucson man was arrested on suspicion of child-sex crimes after police say he arranged for a sexual encounter with a police detective he thought was an underage girl.

Earlier this month the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit learned of a man trying to meet with a girl for sex, Sgt. Pete Dugan said in a news release.

Steven L. Cathcart, 33, was arrested by police and U.S. marshals Wednesday when police say he arrived at a scheduled meeting place on Tucson’s east side.

An investigation revealed prior incidents, Dugan said in the release.

Cathcart was booked into Pima County jail on six felony counts including sexual conduct with a minor, aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and sexual abuse.
