A 28-year-old Tucson man is facing charges that he sexually assaulted a girl, police said.
Peter Isaac Trujillo was arrested Thursday and booked into the Pima County jail. He’s facing charges of sexual assault and first-degree burglary. He’s also facing several shoplifting charges in connection with separate cases.
On Monday, Tucson police were notified about a sexual assault involving a juvenile girl in the 800 block of West Santa Maria Street, Sgt. Maria Hawke, a police spokeswoman, said in a news release.
Detectives learned the description of the suspect in the assault was similar to that of a man possibly involved in shoplifting cases at several Circle K stores, Hawke said.
The detectives obtained the license-plate number of the shoplifting suspect’s vehicle and determined his vehicle was similar to one described by the victim in the assault case.
Police were able to identify Trujillo as the suspect in the assault case and in the shoplifting cases, Hawke said. He and his vehicle were in a shopping center in the 5500 block of South 12th Avenue.
