An early morning two-vehicle wreck southeast of Tucson killed one man and injured three other people.

The crash happened on Arizona 83 south of Interstate 10 about 12:17 a.m. when a northbound Hyundai hit the guardrail, spun into the southbound lane and was struck by a Buick, said Officer Quentin Mehr, an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman in a news release.

The driver of the Hyundai died at the scene, the release said. He was identified as Andrew Aaron Martinez, 20, of Tucson. A passenger in the Hyundai, Derek MacDonald, 18, of Tucson, was injured.

Two people in the Buick were taken to the hospital, the release said. They were identified as Ildefonso Villarreal Chavez, 58, of Tucson, and Maria Rebeca Cartes, 64, also of Tucson.

All were wearing seat belts, the DPS said.

Officers are still investigating.
