Tucson police have released the names of the victim and suspect in an early morning murder-suicide.

Police suspect 35-year-old Alicia Carrillo was strangled by Daniel Ornelas, 34, who then shot himself, Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman, said in a news release.

Police were called to the 5900 block of South Randall Boulevard just before 1 a.m. today by relatives who had gone to a house to check on a couple they were unable to contact Friday evening and found the bodies of the man and woman inside. The home is near East Drexel Road and South Park Avenue.

Police said that while their investigation is preliminary it appears the Ornelas strangled Carrillo then shot himself to death, Sgt. Chris Widmer, a department spokesman said in a news release.
