A woman was fatally shot Monday morning and a man is in critical condition in what appears to be a domestic-violence incident, Tucson police said.
Just before 9 a.m., police received a 911 call from a woman who said her friend had called her and told her that her ex-boyfriend, against whom she had a restraining order, showed up at her home, said Sgt. Matt Ronstadt, a Tucson police spokesman.
Officers arrived at the home in the 6800 block of South Kolb Road nine minutes later and found signs of forced entry, he said.
They found the woman inside the home dead from a gunshot wound and a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted, Ronstadt said.
The man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, Ronstadt said.
The woman was identified as Claudia Pascual, 31, of Tucson. The man's name has not been released.
Police believe the man broke into the home, shot the woman then turned the gun on himself.
