The convenience store clerk stabbed by an assailant died from his wounds Saturday, Tucson police said.

Erick Bridges, 22, had been hospitalized in critical condition after being found early Friday at the store with life-threatening injuries.

Tucson police said a customer found Bridges about 1 a.m. at the AM/PM at 7601 E. Tanque Verde Road and called 911.

Sgt. Chris Widmer, a police spokesman, said detectives determined the attacker entered the store and was involved in a short confrontation with Bridges before stabbing him.

The stabber was described as a male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a carrying a dark-colored backpack, Widmer said.

Anyone with information should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
