A 22-year-old Tucson woman is facing felony charges, including second-degree murder, after police say a passenger in the pickup truck she was driving died from injuries in a DUI-related wreck Sunday night.

Rede Maria Wamel Sotelo was driving a 2004 Chevrolet truck west in the curb lane of East Golf Links Road near South Alvernon Way when police say she struck the guard rail, overcorrected, crossed the median and smashed into a Ford SUV headed in the opposite direction.

The Ford rolled over, but the driver was not seriously injured.

A passenger in the pickup, David N. Zumano, 26, was thrown from the vehicle before it plowed into the SUV and died from his injuries at a hospital, Tucson police said in a news release.

Sotelo was arrested after she was released from the hospital. She was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of second degree murder, criminal damage and endangerment, all felonies.
