Karla Castro (top left), Veronica Munoz, Jessica Rodriguez and Melesia Romo were arrested by Tucson police on suspicion of operating a ring that stole make-up from stores and resold the products at a swap meet.

Four women were arrested after police say they stole jewelry, makeup and and other merchandise from different stores and sold the items at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet.

Jessica Rodriguez, 25, Melesia Romo, 31, Veronica Munoz, 33 and Karla Castro, 20, are all facing numerous charges, including illegally conducting an enterprise, money laundering, theft and organized retail theft, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Tucson Police have obtained an arrest warrant for another woman, Karina Ortiz, 27, who they say is connected to the thefts, Hawke said in a news release.

The women were involved in up to 30 shoplifting incidents at stores such as CVS, Safeway, Walgreens, Ross and Charming Charlies, according to police.

Earlier this year, the Arizona Organized Retail Crime Association advised Tucson Police that a group of women were targeting CVS stores in the Tucson area.

Detectives met with CVS’ loss prevention representatives to launch a more thorough investigation and found that the group had stolen from at least six CVS stores.

Detectives determined the group was part of a large scale organized retail theft ring and had stolen cosmetics, jewelry, clothes and other items.

The women would give the items to another person, who would sell the merchandise at the swap meet.

In November, detectives obtained a search warrant and found more than $100,000 of items at a swap meet stall.
