Two north-side families lost their homes in a fire Tuesday morning.

Two mobile homes in the 1100 block of West La Osa Drive, near West Wetmore and North Flowing Wells roads, caught fire about 11:30 a.m., said Trina Motto, a Northwest Fire District spokeswoman. Despite high winds, firefighters contained the fires to the two homes, Motto said.

No residents were injured. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, Motto said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. No damage estimate was given.

Northwest Fire's community assistance team and the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross aided residents with housing needs, Motto said.

Southwest Gas and Tucson Electric Power Co. crews shut off power to some surrounding homes, and the utilities will remain off until repairs are completed, Motto said.

Red Cross officials will assist families whose utilities were turned off.
