A Marana woman is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the late-night homicide of her husband, police officials said.

Officers were called to a home in the 8900 block of North Palm Brook Drive, between North Coachline and North Silverbell roads in the Continental Ranch subdivision, at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday. They found 59-year-old Jerry Dean Mayfield dead at the scene, said Sgt. Jose Alvarez, spokes-man for the Marana Police Department.

The victim's 57-year-old wife, Toni Marie Mayfield, who was in the home when police arrived, was arrested, Alvarez said. She was booked into the Pima County jail.

"The cause of death has not been established yet," Alvarez said. "Right now, we really don't have a motive as to what happened. We're still trying to establish that."
