A woman who sped away from a Tuesday night traffic stop on the northeast side, crashed and died a short time later.

Mary MacGregor-Wolfe, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene, Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a news release.

Just before 10:30 p.m. the PCSD received a 911 call about a suspicious car parked in a neighborhood near North Bear Canyon and East Snyder roads. Deputies made contact with MacGregor-Wolfe, the sole occupant of a black Nissan 350Z sports car and discovered her driver’s license was suspended and the license plate on her car had been reported stolen, Peine said.

Before deputies could speak with MacGregor-Wolfe further, she sped away.

“A short time later and while checking the surrounding area for the vehicle, deputies noticed a dust cloud rising near Snyder Road and City View Drive,” he said. “When they approached that location, they found the Nissan had crashed off the roadway and rolled over.”

MacGregor-Wolfe was found partially ejected from the car.

The investigation is ongoing.
