A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the killing of a Tucson man in July, police said.

Luis Bernal has been linked to the slaying of 66-year-old David Martinez, Tucson police Sgt. Peter Dugan said in a news release Saturday night.

The body of Martinez was found July 25, inside his home near North Grant and Flowing Wells roads after a co-worker asked police to check on him.

Bernal was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of first degree murder following a search Friday of his home in the 4900 block of South Highland Drive, near east Irvington Road and South Park Avenue, Dugan said.

The Star is identifying Bernal because of the seriousness of the allegation.
