The Pima County Sheriff's Department will conduct training exercises at the now-closed Lyons Elementary School starting Monday and through Aug. 7.

Training at the school, 7555 E. Dogwood St., is scheduled from 2 to 11 p.m. daily, said Deputy Tracy Suitt, a department spokesman.

The school, which is among those that Tucson Unified School District closed at the end of this school year, is in a neighborhood south of East Escalante Road and west of South Pantano Road.

Residents in the area may hear screaming, shouting and simulated gunfire during the training exercises, Suitt said.

"Our goal is to have as little impact on the surrounding neighborhood as possible, and not inconvenience residents," said Suitt.
