An update from the organizers of this weekend's open house at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base states activities will begin — as scheduled — at 11 a.m. today. Gates open for the event, named "Thunder and Lightning over Arizona," starting at 8:30 a.m.

Umbrellas will not be allowed on base, so Davis-Monthan officials suggest visitors bring ponchos or hooded jackets as substitutes.

Here is today's schedule of events, which is subject to change due to weather:

11 a.m. - Opening ceremony including F-16 alert launch. Followed by 'Bull' Stearman flight, Desert Rats warbird CJ-6 and Dan Buchanan hang-glider performance.

Noon - Combat search-and-rescue demonstration, heritage flight with A-10 and a P-51, Customs and Border Protection demonstration.

1 p.m. - B-1,C-17 and T-33 demonstrations.

2 p.m. - U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Tombstone Riders, Chapman, MV-22 and Red Bull aerobatic teams.

Visitors will not be allowed to enter the base following 2 p.m. today and Sunday, so plan accordingly.
