Minnesota singer-songwriter Sara Thomsen will perform songs from her new CD, “Somewhere to Begin,” as well as her earlier songs. Her concert begins at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Rincon Friends of Music concert series presents Minnesota singer-songwriter Sara Thomsen in concert at 7 p.m. Friday.

The concert is at Rincon United Congregational Church, 122 N. Craycroft Road. Tickets are $15.

Dubbed “one of Northern Minnesota’s best-kept secrets,” Thomsen’s home base is in the Lake Superior region.

Thomsen’s performance will highlight songs from her new album, “Somewhere to Begin,” released this year. It’s her fifth solo CD. She also will perform songs from her earlier recordings.

Thomsen’s songwriting awards include winner of the Minnesota Folk Festival’s New Folk Songwriting Contest, top finalist in the Midwest round of the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, top finalist in the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua Songwriting Contest and top finalist in the Music to Life Contest.
