Cienega Rotary plans poker fundraiser
The Cienega Rotary Club is planning its second annual Texas Hold 'em Tournament fundraiser Aug. 2 at the Hacienda del Lago at del Lago Golf Club, 14155 E. Vía Rancho Del Lago in Vail.
The winner will receive a $150 Visa card. Last year everyone who played got a prize, from restaurant certificates to movie tickets, a certificate for salon hair care, gift cards from Fry's and Safeway and free drinks and food, according to event organizer and club treasurer Fred Bruns.
Funds will help support the Rotary Club and its Vail-area projects. The Rotary funds a backpack for a program that provides backpacks filled with food for schoolchildren to take home over the weekend. It also gives dictionaries to all third-graders in the Vail School District (adding up to more than 900 dictionaries a year).
Club members serve brunches at the Ronald McDonald House and the club provides food and money at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter for families in need in the Vail area.
"We look for all kinds of things we can do for the Vail community," Bruns said.
A reception will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. the day of the tournament. Check-in is at 6:30 and games will run from 7 to 10 p.m.
Cost is $50 per person, with RSVPs required by July 26.
For more information call Bruns at 396-0555.
