Charlie’s Comic Books, 5460 E. Speedway, is hosting a “Free Comic Book Day” fundraiser for the Salvation Army. It’ll include silent auction of original art, a raffle, graphic novels, more than a dozen artists providing free sketches, and free comics. It’s 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free to attend. 320-0279.

2. May 4 and 5

A Cinco de Mayo Weekend Fiesta at Pinnacle Peak and Trail Dust Town, 6541 E. Tanque Verde Road, will include a piñata party, entertainment by the youth mariachi group Los Changuitos Feos, Ballet Folklorico Tapatio, trick roper Loop Rawlins and stunt shows. 3. May 11

Author Leona Claire Fuller and members of “Hot Flashes” will be on hand at Mostly Books, 6208 E. Speedway. Fuller will talk and sign copies of her book, “The Hot Flashes: The Award Winning Senior Tap Dance,” 12:30-1:30 p.m. Free. 571-0110.
