Four finalists for the top job at troubled Pima Community College will be in Tucson next week for a series of public forums and meet-and-greets with employees.

The public sessions each are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at PCC's district office, 4905 E. Broadway. They also will be streamed live on the chancellor search page at pima.edu, according to an email sent Thursday to college personnel.

The visit dates are as follows:

• Monday - Lee D. Lambert, president of Shoreline Community College in Shoreline, Wash.

• Tuesday - Terrence J. Burgess, president of San Diego City College, San Diego.

• Wednesday - Greg P. Smith, president of Central Community College, Grand Island, Neb.

• Thursday- Elñora Tena Webb, president of Laney College in Oakland, Calif.

Plans are in the works to have each finalist visit at all six PCC campuses the day they're in town, the announcement said.

The candidates will meet with representatives of employee groups, college administrators, the PCC Governing Board and others.

The finalists are arriving at a time when their presence is opposed by PCC employee groups and business and community organizations, which have publicly called for the chancellor search to be put on hold until PCC is on more stable footing.

The college recently was put on probation by its accreditor after an investigation found pervasive failings in the college's administration and governance.

Four of five PCC board members are facing calls for their resignations but have indicated they intend to stay on and forge ahead with the chancellor search process.
