Vail district seeks internship partners
The Vail School District is seeking local business partners for the High School Senior Internship Program.
The program gives seniors the opportunity to participate in a yearlong internship in the career areas of their choice.
Vail students have had internships in a wide variety of fields, including engineering, law enforcement, medicine, landscape architecture, athletic training, politics and journalism.
During the course of the year, students complete at least 124 hours of observation, hands-on experience and a project that directly helps the company for which they are interning.

Sunnyside counselor is Advocate of Year
A Sunnyside High School counselor was honored with an Advocate of the Year award from the Arizona School Counselors Association Inc.
Belinda Stevens is a school counselor and Advancement Via Individual Determination program coordinator.
The Advocate of the Year award is given to professionals who devote their careers to serving as advocates for Arizona's students. Stevens was recommended for the award by her colleagues and students.
She assists students in individual counseling on family, academic and personal needs, and prepares students for dual enrollment, Advanced Placement and honors courses.
St. Gregory senior earns French award
A St. Gregory College Preparatory student has received the 2013 Outstanding Senior in French Award.
Diana Hurtado was recognized for demonstrating excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken.
Award recipients must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be non-native speakers of French. Hurtado has studied French for five years.
The award was presented by the American Association of Teachers of French.
