Teacher-supply drive is beginning today

The third annual Tucson Supplies Teachers campaign kicks off today at all Southern Arizona Walgreens stores.

The campaign runs through Aug. 15 and is a joint effort by Walgreens and the nonprofit organization Tucson Values Teachers.

Last year, the drive collected $71,000 in supplies. This year's goal is $100,000.

A $25,000 grant from the Tucson-based, nonprofit Community Finance Corporation is kick-starting the drive. Walgreens also is contributing $25,000 in supplies as well as1,560 packs of tissue.

More than 10,000 teachers at public, private and charter schools will receive the donations.

Temple Emanu-El adds full-day kinder

Temple Emanu-El's Olga and Bob Strauss Early Childhood Education Center will include full-day kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

School begins Aug. 15 and registration is under way.

The cost of the full-day program is $635 per month.

The program is on the campus of the Temple Emanu-El, 225 N. Country Club Road.
