Three Tucson-area schools have earned the A+ School of Excellence distinction.

C.E. Rose PreK-8 of the Tucson Unified School District, Desert Willow Elementary of the Vail Unified School District and Flowing Wells High School of the Flowing Wells Unified School District are being honored by the Arizona Educational Foundation.

This is the fifth A+ designation for Flowing Wells and the second for Desert Willow.

Schools are evaluated in the areas of student focus and support, school culture, active teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership, community and parent involvement, and assessment data.

"We applaud these schools for doing whatever it takes to meet their students' needs and achieving overall success despite some of the challenges that face the education community statewide," said AEF Executive Director Bobbie O'Boyle.

A total of 28 campuses from across the state received the honor this school year. Each will receive $500 and a banner.
