The Tucson Unified School District affirmed Monday its curriculum is aligned with state and Common Core standards.

The declaration, approved unanimously by the Governing Board, is required to be submitted by all public schools, including charters, to the Arizona Department of Education annually.

The subjects that have to be aligned with the standards in place include English language arts, math, science and social studies.

In addition to having curriculum aligned with the standards, the district also had to affirm that instructional materials and teacher evaluations are aligned as well.

The Governing Board met Monday because the declaration must be submitted by today.

The board also approved TUSD’s annual financial report for the 2012-2013 school year, also required to be submitted to the state today.
