The Tucson Unified School District Governing Board approved the hirings of two directors, a principal and a project manager Tuesday night.

The administrative appointments are as follows:

  • Janet Rico Uhrig was named the new director of talent acquisition recruitment and retention. She previously served as the coordinator of the department of Residence Life at the University of Arizona. She will work to recruit and retain diverse employees.
  • Herman House, known for his work as director of TUSD's interscholastics department, has been serving in an interim capacity as director of high schools in secondary leadership. He was appointed director of secondary schools. The interscholastics director position will not be filled. Rather, a coordinator will take over those duties.
  • Olga Gómez was appointed principal of Myers/Ganoung Elementary School. She was the K-8 principal of Palominas Elementary School in Hereford, Ariz.
  • Renée LaChance, director of employee management systems in the Scottsdale Unified School District, was named project manager of TUSD's enterprise resource planning system. The ERP is designed to replace the district's paper-driven processes in finance, human resources, payroll and other areas.
