Just two weeks into the school year, shelves and racks at the TUSD Clothing Bank are nearly empty, having clothed 700 children.

Even though the Clothing Bank received a donation of 600 pairs of shoes and 2,500 undergarments from the Educational Enrichment Foundation, the supply of underwear, socks and boys and girls clothes sizes 4 to 14 has been exhausted, and shoes are running low. Kids in need can shop free at the Clothing Bank.

“We had a huge influx of students this year,” said Dani Tarry, director of TUSD’s family and community outreach department. “We were kind of surprised. It really put a dent in our stock.”

The Clothing Bank is seeking donations of kids and youth-size clothes (4 to 20) for both boys and girls, along with shoes, socks, undergarments, school supplies and backpacks. Donations can be dropped off, and cash donations can be sent to TUSD Family and Community Outreach, 655 N. Magnolia Ave., Tucson, AZ 85711.

The Educational Enrichment Foundation, which supports TUSD students and teachers, will also accept donations to give to the clothing bank. Items can be dropped off, and cash donations can be mailed to 3809 E. Third Street, Tucson, AZ 85716. Donations can also be made online at www.eeftucson.org by clicking the “donate” button on the top right corner.
