TUSD's governing board has named H.T. Sanchez to be superintendent of Tucson's largest school district.

Sanchez is currently interim superintendent of a district in Odessa, Texas.

Tucson Unified School District's  board voted 4-1 Tuesday night, with Mark Stegeman opposed, to offer Sanchez the job.

Sanchez's compensation is yet to be negotiated. 

He will succeed John Pedicone, who is stepping down as superintendent.
