A fire destroyed a house and burned five vehicles Tuesday afternoon on the city's northeast side.

Firefighters with Rural/Metro Fire Department were dispatched at 1:27 p.m. to the 9200 block of East Kayenta Drive after the residents and neighbors reported the fire, said Battalion Chief Willie Treatch.

The neighborhood is east of North Bear Canyon Road and South of East Snyder Road.

When firefighters arrived, they found 50 percent of the house on fire. The residents got out of the house safely, and no injuries were reported, Treatch said.

Twenty-five firefighters brought the fire under control in about an hour. The house was condemned, said Treatch.

Three vehicles were destroyed and two other vehicles were damaged by the fire, Treatch said. The vehicles were parked in the carport and yard, he said.

A neighboring house sustained minor damage to its carport, Treatch said.

The cause of the fire, its point of origin and damage estimates were not yet known, Treatch said.
