Tucson Firefighters Association Local 479 will host its annual Chili Cook-Off from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at downtown El Presidio Park, 160 W. Alameda St.
Proceeds benefit the agency’s Adopt-a-Family Program, which provides food boxes, basic necessities, clothing and gifts to families in need.
Many families aided by the program are referred and others are “adopted” by firefighters who see the need when they go to residences on calls. Last year the group raised $60,000 at the cook-off.
Chili, made by firefighters, sells for $2 a cup, and other food is available for purchase.
