Kindermusik, which "teaches children music so they can become better learners," is a 25-year-old program with several locations.

The Kindermusik program offered at, but not by, Tanque Verde Lutheran Church is planning a couple of open houses on Aug. 5 and 6.

Free demonstration classes are planned both days for different ages. Here's the schedule:

Aug. 5

• 9 a.m.: birth-18 months

• 10 a.m.: 18 months-3 years

• 11 a.m.: 18 months-3 years

• 1 p.m.: 3 1/2 years-5 years

Aug. 6

• 9 a.m.: 18 months-3 years

• 10 a.m.: 3 1/2-5 years

• 11:30: 0-18 months

• 3:30 p.m.: 4 1/2 years-6 years

The summer session is over, but fall classes will start Aug. 30-Sept. 9; you can register at any time.

The program's website explains that it's "not about making little Mozarts" but about helping children develop cognitive, physical, social, emotional, language and music skills.

Tanque Verde Lutheran is at 8625 E. Tanque Verde Road.

Classes range from 45 minutes to an hour and cost $10 to $12 per class. Sessions for younger kids run seven weeks while older kids go for 14 weeks. Find out more at kindermusikwithmary.com or call 885-3362.
