Thanks to all the readers of my Feb. 10 column, "It's my turn to pick a book for club and … got any ideas?" who posted comments online and sent e-mails with book recommendations.

I truly enjoyed reading all of your suggestions. I have a wonderful list of books I am excited to read. The books mentioned the most were "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein, "Cutting for Stone" by Abraham Verghese, "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" by Helen Simonson and "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wroblewski.

In addition to recommending books, some readers shared ideas on how a book club can narrow its focus. A few others reminded me about the upcoming Tucson Festival of Books, set for March 12-13 at the University of Arizona campus. Go to for more information.

Thank you again for your insights, and happy reading!
