If you're itching to go on a fun day or overnight trip, consider heading to Catalina State Park.

The park is on Arizona 77 - Oracle Road - at mile marker 81, six miles north of Ina Road.

The desert oasis is a draw for dog walkers, picnickers, campers and hikers.

The park encompasses 5,500 acres and attracts 170,000 to 200,000 visitors a year.

It celebrated its 30th anniversary Saturday with a host of family activities. But it's open every day for folks who want to get out for a breath of fresh air.

The park has a host of amenities, including picnic tables and grills, restrooms and showers, an equestrian center with trailer parking, a campground and a gift shop. The entrance fee is $7 per vehicle.
