The Adult Education program at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church will present a discussion Sunday of Jesus’ interactions with the religious and political leaders who put him on trial and executed him at the close of his ministry.
Jerry Gill, a professor of philosophy and religion at Pima Community College, will lead the discussion.
The focus of the discussion will be on Chapters 18 and 19 in John’s Gospel where we see how Jesus sidestepped and/or otherwise ignored his accusers in such a way as to provide a mirror in which they might see the “erroneous character of their actions,” according to Gill. “Here again one can see Jesus’ alternative style in dealing with those with whom he came in contact. He simply refuses to defend himself.”
This discussion will take place at 11:45 in the Church Center, right after the three celebration services at 7:45, 9 and 10:30 a.m.
Coffee and refreshments will be provided and everyone is welcome.
St. Francis in the Foothills is at 4625 E. River Road, at North Swan Road. For more information call the church office at 299-9063.
