The Secular Humanist Jewish Circle will hold an observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur on Sept. 7 at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church, 4625 E. River Road.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the celebration begins at 10.

Consistent with the tenets of Humanistic Judaism, the service will celebrate the moral and ethical teachings of the holidays without prayer or reference to supernatural authority.

The observance will include traditional themes of the High Holidays, familiar and contemporary songs, poetry and participation. There will be an opportunity to remember deceased loved ones during a flower ceremony.

After the ceremony, guests will partake of a catered lunch followed by a discussion. Preregistration is required. Tickets are $25 for members and $40 for non-members.

For more information and to reserve your place, contact Susan at 577-7718 or by Sept. 2.
