Dove of Peace Lutheran Church is planning its popular annual Mardi Gras French Quarter Jazz Mass and Creole Brunch.

Sunday's event will begin with music at 10:45 a.m. followed by a worship service at 11, then a Creole brunch.

The church is at 665 W. Roller Coaster Road.

The mass and brunch are free, but donations will be accepted for the church's music program and to buy essentials for low-income students at Lulu Walker Elementary School in Tucson. Approximately half the students there receive free meals and lack things such as adequate clothing and backpacks.

The service features the professional ensemble The Original Wildcat Jass Band. The brunch menu includes red beans, sausage and jambalaya.

This event, as with other musical events at the church, has reached seating capacity in the past. The first 300 or so people will be seated, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
