The May show in the Murphey Gallery at St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church is titled “Luminous Watercolors” and features original works by Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild artists Shannon Russell, Euayne Glinski and Loisanne Keller.
The show runs from Sunday through May 28. An artists’ reception will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Glinski has painted in oils for many years and, since retirement, has concentrated her efforts on the watercolor medium. Her love of Southern Arizona is reflected in her work. She has studied with well-known local and national artists. Her paintings have been displayed and sold in galleries in Tucson, Willcox, Tubac and Benson.
Since retirement, Keller began painting with watercolors, having no previous experience in the visual arts. She prefers to paint wet-on-wet, with large brushes, especially landscapes and desert skies. She has exhibited her work in galleries in Tucson and Tubac and has been juried into local and national art exhibits. She is a Signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild.
Russell taught for several years at a variety of high schools. After retiring in 2004, she once again found time for her love of art. She is a Signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild and has exhibited in numerous juried shows and galleries in Tucson.
The Murphey Art Gallery hours are 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The gallery may also be available during office hours Monday through Thursday, but it is also a meeting room for various groups during the week, and their needs take precedence.
