Robert G. Varady and Sharon B. Megdal will present a lecture on their recently published book, "Shared Borders, Shared Waters: Israeli-Palestinian and Colorado River Basin Water," from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Kirk-Bear Canyon Library, 8959 E. Tanque Verde Road.

The talk is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring a contribution of food for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, and a snack to share.

Varady and Megdal will talk about their experiences internationally, including their recently published volume on Israeli-Arizona-Palestinian and Lower Colorado River Basin water challenges. They'll discuss implications for the planning and use of water resources in Tucson and the Southern Arizona area.

Varady is deputy director and director of environmental policy programs at the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona. He also is a research professor of environmental policy at the Udall Center, research professor of arid lands studies and adjunct professor of hydrology and water resources.

Megdal is director of the UA Water Resources Research Center and C.W. and Modene Neely Endowed Professor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Her work focuses on water resources management and policy, on which she writes and speaks.
