So, you want to go a little wild but it's just too darned hot out during the day? Head to Reid Park Zoo on one of its Summer Safari Friday Nights.
The special evening events include face painting, games and crafts for the kids, and adult beverages - along with the non-alcoholic variety - for chaperones.
Some of the zoo animals are not out and about at night, though many enjoy the cooler evenings. The giraffe and rhino exhibits are closed at night, as is the aviary.
Cost is $9 for adults 15 and older, $5 for those ages 2-14, $7 for senior citizens, and free for kids younger than 2. Members pay half price.
You can register in advance or just show up. For more information go to reidparkzoo .org/events/public/summer-safari or call 881-4753.
Summer Safari Friday Nights run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and each has a different theme. Texas Roadhouse is providing crafts and Wendy's is supplying games each night, except where noted.
