Four superintendents from Southern Arizona school districts are running in this year’s Boston Marathon on Monday.

Calvin Baker, from Vail, David Woodall, from Benson, Frank Davidson, from Casa Grande and Steve Poling, from Hereford, are among the thousands of athletes set to run the 26-mile course.

This year’s event marks the 1-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and wounded 264.

“The marathon is an experience that is all about resilience,” Davidson said in a news release. “The hundreds of people whose lives were altered on Boylston Street that afternoon have shown incredible resilience and we should all learn from that example.”

Davidson, Woodall and Baker have run in several other marathons together in Tucson, Duluth, Minn., St. George, Utah and Portland, Ore., the release said.
