Office keeper: Help create a welcoming environment for staff and volunteers by fulfilling general cleaning duties. Willingness to follow instructions and attention to detail are desired. Prior cleaning experience is a plus.
Honor veterans: Honor veterans with a pin, certificate, music and gratitude for service. This is an ideal opportunity for other veterans.
Docents: Learn about the plant and animal world and the global and local weather patterns that create the world's desert. Then learn how to teach, interact and inform others. Lead tours and interpret the fascinations of the desert for park visitors.
Prepare meals for families: Provide food and prepare meals for out-of-town families (25-plus people) who are visiting ill children at a local hospital. There are no limitations on who may volunteer; however, teens and younger children should be supervised by a responsible person.
Taxes on the go: More than 20 volunteers are needed for tax-preparation teams to work Jan. 21-April 12. Trained volunteer teams of two to five people travel to locations throughout the community to meet with clients by appointment. IRS-certified training and training materials are provided free and no experience is required. Training classes will be held in early January 2013.
